The Gasaways

The season is back for photo sessions, everyone seems to be coming out of hibernation.  This is the first session I have done with my new Nikon D700.  I used my 85mm 1.8 lens with all these.  I love the portrait pictures that it produced!

Whitley and I planned this shoot at the same time I was coming to NC for a surprise birthday party for a friend.  Whitley and I went to high school together…it is a joy and an honor to be able to capture some of my best friends and now children.  To think in 1993, we all were on our way to Spring Break OD with Whitley’s parents as our chaperones, I can assure you we were not thinking of families and children that week.

Kensley is a precious, happy, two and a half year old, who loves her Goldfish.  There is just something about pigtails that softens my heart…my mom put my very fine thin blonde hair in pigtails too when i was little, they were nothing like Miss Kensley’s, I assure you.  The sunshine and the halo of light around her face is perfect.

The family of 3 + Oscar (the dog) was so fun to capture…as Kensley really did what she wanted to do, and loved the flowers.  She also did something that no other child has done during a shoot of mine, she picked up on the loud “click” of the camera, Kensley kept repeating, “Click, click, click!”  It was so cute and just one of those little things that adults might never notice and verbalize.  Some of the best smiling moments we had were when Sonny, her dad, and Kensley did the McDonald’s dance, that’s my name for it, not sure really what it was called, but it sure made Kensley light up and giggle!  Thank you Gasaways for the opportunity, enjoy!
