Meyer Family | Wild Dunes | Isle of Palms, SC

I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised when Ayden emailed me to ask of my availability for a family session during Memorial Day week on the Isle of Palms!  The Meyer family, who live in Charlotte, NC, were staying at the Wild Dunes resort in a house for a week and wanted beach pictures of the family.  Ayden (the father) and his family and I go as far back as I can remember.  Our dads were fraternity brothers at Clemson back in the early 70’s and so my sister and I, along with our parents, grew up going to Aiken to visit “The Meyers” for Masters week and also beach trips to Edisto in the summers.  We have all been to each others’ weddings and keep t up with the families’ Christmas cards every year.  So enough about our family history, let me get to the beauty below!

Brooke & Ayden have the cutest little children, Graham (3 1/2) and Anne Holland (2).  Family sessions can always be a bit challenging around these ages, because everything is so unpredictable.  This morning, however ,was a wonderful experience and I absolutely loved being with them.  Anne Holland absolutely LOVES the water and could play in the waves all day long!  She doesn’t care about getting wet or sandy and charges right through the waves.  She has no fear!  Graham is a sweet little soul and was chatting with me the whole time.  I felt myself having to put my camera down sometimes just to answer his questions politely without it in my face, “Miss Jennings…, can I show you my room when we get back?”  “Well sure Graham, but let’s play on the beach a little while longer, okay buddy?”

Graham loves his boats and his dolphin sticker he had on.  And then another, “Miss Jennings…”  “Yes Graham?”  It went on for about an hour and he stole my heart!  When we were back at the house, Graham showed me his room, while his mother Brooke said, “Now Graham, Jennings isn’t going to stay so don’t ask her to take a nap with you.”  I about lost it!  So cute and innocent and lovable!  The love Brooke and Ayden have for their children is so evident, and the patience they displayed is something I need to learn from them.  Thanks y’all for having me capture your beach vacation moments.  On your next visit we hopefully will have more play time with Miller and a few cocktails!
