Laura & Tyler | Thomas Bennett House Wedding | Charleston, SC

Remember the cute couple in the State House for their Engagement session?  Laura and Tyler were married at St. Luke’s Chapel then celebrated at the classic and beautiful Thomas Bennett House in downtown Charleston.  The venue was transformed into a outside cocktail party and tented reception including dancing and carrying on!  Sweet Laura booked me because in 2012 I had shot her friend’s wedding.  What fun to see that couple, Coley & Evan, at this wedding!

The details, OH the details!  Where do I even begin?!  Laura and I were like two peas in a pod preparing for her wedding: the lists of details to capture, the shot list of family, the family traditions.  Everything was so organized and I was eating it all UP!!!  Some details that I must mention in no order: Laura’s grandmother’s ring (something old), her mother’s and sister’s blue garters (something blue), the lace from her mother’s gown encircling Laura’s bouquet, her great-grandmother’s locket, and the lace crocheted by her great-grandmother.  Personal and sentimental touches were everywhere.  The Bible that Laura carried down the aisle was the same Bible that was used during her parent’s wedding and tucked inside it were the wedding vows they had written to each other!

Instead of having a wedding cake, Laura and Tyler opted for banana pudding “cake” served in a large martini glass!  Such a cute and fun touch!  When you see the images from the reception, you might wonder why people have napkins on their heads…it is a tradition from her father’s side of the family.  During parties they all tied napkins on their heads and danced around…I was even inducted into this tradition by the Father of the Bride!

A beautiful church ceremony followed by a fun reception — an inspiring beginning for these two very loving people, Laura and Tyler.  I just love all of your wonderful and happy facial reactions!  Truly showing the love and good times you will have for years to come!  So Tyler, no more bear hugs and no more posy picture shots, it made me smile so big at the end of the wedding night when you said, “I’m gonna miss you Jennings!”  Just about the best thing a photographer could hear from the groom.  I wish you two all the best!

Thank you to Amy Kay for second shooting for me on this day!  I especially love her pictures of the first look with the girls in the window!
