Bailey and John were married on one of the most beautiful days in May I have ever seen! It was cool and clear with the sun shining brightly the entire weekend.
I initially met Bailey at Zia’s, my favorite Mexican restaurant, to go over her wedding details and timeline. She was very calm and I loved getting get a feel for her personality. Most brides need some direction for timelines and I was happy that our meeting went so well. I didn’t meet John until the day of their wedding, looking dapper in his white dinner jacket and very agreeable in every way!
Their first look took place on the lawn in front of the Green Boundary Club, on Whiskey Road in historic Aiken known for equestrian sports and its southern charm. Although my first wedding to shoot in Aiken, it is close to my heart for many reasons . . . no need to go into that here!
The wedding day couldn’t have gone smoother: an excited and loving bride and groom, families on both sides who were fun to be around, a beautiful downtown church, and a reception with lots of dancing!
Bailey was wearing her grandmother’s pearls and her grandmother’s pin on the sash of her wedding gown. The Jimmy Choo shoes were the new items which she also wore with her wedding gown and going away dress. A southern tradition, the bride buried a bourbon bottle prior to the wedding day for good luck to keep the rain away…I would say it worked! The family gathered on the dance floor with friends, where there was no lack of dancing! Circles were formed, there was jumping over the imaginary jump ropes, the chicken dance on stage, and finally the swim!
A huge thanks to Tanya Waller from Columbia for helping me as my second shooter. My favorite picture of hers was the kiss at the cake cutting as seen below.
Bailey and John, thank you so much for having me as your wedding photographer, I hope you will are relaxing and having a fabulous trip to the Dominican Republic!
